Microsoft is reporting a HUGE upswing in the amount of phishing attempts that are being made by some really un-nice people. Here is Microsoft's words on it:

Really what it comes down too if it sounds too good to be true, if someone is asking for your personal info, make sure you know who it is, why, what, where, and any other question that might come up on why this person needs your info.
