Lake Tahoe On Line is thrilled to announce that we're implementing a new mail server. The new server employs the latest in spam blocking technology and processes email very efficiently. We expect to migrate to the new server in mid February.
Some of the new spam blocking features include:
• SMTP data checks
• advanced RBL
• rate limiting
• spam quarantines
• user whitelists
Don't worry if you don't understand these features -- we'll be covering them in additional blog posts about the new server. Please do know that we'll be blocking even more spam and that you'll be able to receive the email you want to receive.
Along with better spam protection, the new mail server offers a streamlined and attractive web mail interface. More and more of our customers are using web mail instead of traditional clients like Outlook Express or MacMail and we want to make their experience as smooth as possible.
Within web mail, you'll be able to setup calendars and contacts, email folders and your own spam rules.
Please call our office or add a comment to our blog if you have any questions about the new mail server or any of our service.

That all sound great, is there going to be an increase in price for this new mail thing? AT&T just tripled my DSL rate, they didn't even give me anything new.

Thank you for your post. We really appreciate customer comments.
No, we won't be raising our rates.
We also offer DSL and our plans start at $20.95 a month. We'll make it easy for you to switch to LTOL DSL :)
Is the mail system down right now, I can't get anything...
We're up on the new mail server now. Customers may have experienced a short outage period on Thursday evening as we officially moved over to the new server. All mail should be updated by 11:00 pm.
Thank you for your patience.
At 9:15 Fri morn I can't get email. Is the new system working?
The email server is up and running. There are some new security features which might require a change or two on the customers part but we are finding that the rare occurence. We do appreciate your patience and all of the kind words and appreciation we are hearing from our customers.
I appreciate the new program, but it bogs down my computer something fierce. I cannot get DSL here and it takes 2 minutes to go back and forth between emails. That means if I only check 5 emails, it takes 10 minutes! Is there too much on the web page causing the slowdown. If that cannot be changed, I'm afraid I cannot use the program.
We will check into this a bit further. We checked in the office on a phone line here and we didn't see a problem. However, we didn't try it on one of the further out lines that could be causing a problem. I would strongly suggest trying Outlook Express on Windows XP or Windows Mail on Windows Vista. Sorry for that problem that you're having but so far we have received a very heavy favorable response to the new server and the new webmail interface.
Question? How do you pick multiple names from your address book to send mail to, other than click on each one indivdually? I need to send a msg to everyone on my list, and doing it one by one won't cut it.
